Calibra, cheaper too get more power out the engine, still reliable after if looked after + 4x4 looked after it will be fine, mr2 not the best reliability, when they go wrong not cheap too fit either and parts arnt avaliable as easily as for a calibra.

Claibra

Heated leather, 5 seats, long wheelbase comfy car. Enormous tuning potential, fix it yourself.

Ignore the 4x4 myths about it being shit. If u look after your car, (check your tyre pressures regularly and make sure tyre wear is even) then youll not have any problems, mines 10 years old and is 100% fine.

MR2 is a bit more balls out, but IIRC when i was looking at them the ones for calibra money were poop! So whats your budget?

Lovely cars, with the right mods look awesome, but can look a bit dodgy IMO. Jap parts shall be expensive, dont beleive the hype about jap cars being "more reliable" my family have owened a number of jap cars and i wouldnt say any of them would be any mroe reliable than any european counterpart! (exlcuding vtec as they are infact indestructable)

My vote goes to the cally

thanks for that jambo.

not much difference in insurance price:

MR2 TURBO.... cheapest £3500 most expensive £8000
Calibra 4x4 Turbo cheapest £4000 most expensive £7500

shocking prices i know but im moving to a better postcode area next week, and ill wait til im 21 with 1 years ncb before buying. so will be half that

Only the Jap Market got the MR2 Turbo...
we got the N/A... which is pretty poor to be honest

And the Rev 3 MR2 Turbo onwards were 240bhp
think the Rev 1 was 220bhp...

if you can drive, get the mr2, if you cant it WLL kill you,so get the cally (plus side is if you cant drive properly you wont break the 4x4!)

On another note, my hatred of callys is founded, they are overweight, and the amount of glass in the top of the car makes it horribly flexible destroying the handling. In short, i want one for the shape, and the only way Id have one is gutted, with a cage, rwd converted with about 400hp.
