building? badly payed? my ole man just finished building a house for my cousin and the bricky he had with him was getting 1.50 a block cash in hand
he was laying up to 500 blocks a day and considering it took 6000 block to get out of the ground he made a nice few quid... think it was 32000 for 4 weeks work and that was just the bricky!
fooking sparks charged me 80 quid to move a socket 1 foot... when he gave me a quote of 70 quid each to install some downlighters in me living room i told him to fook off and did the job meself...

i would put VT in the top earners bracket of CS.
Along with Half pint, AK, Tomas and maybe Tim.
I have spoke to HP a while ago all be it and he wasn't on AMAZIN money, AK is talking of setting up on his own and he can ask £550 a day or something (sure he won't mind me saying as he posted up in gc) so that's a different kettle of fish as he's not exactly seasonal as far as I can tell. Tim's a city high flier isn't he
What would you say is the average wage of cs

Obviously it affects earning potential. I could earn a hell of alot more in lodnon but refuse to go as I hate the whole culture and couldn't settle there.

30k sounds about right if he's got work all year.
take 20 days off for holiday, then 18% = about £70 day rate.
I've been doing dry lining about 18 months, my day rate is £130 minus 18% altho the majority of my work is on price. Price works out better for me as I can earn what I want (usally more than day rate), but I might have to change companys 2 or 3 times a year and travel a fair distance for the better work.
30k a year for a secure job cant be bad
I only put my chaps on daywork if they're doing remedial work, unfinished work or shared areas.
Price is better for everyone, they work quicker, I get my profits on the workers quicker, the workers get their money faster, but in the spraying side of things, it's too easy to rush and make a balls, so alot of remedials have to be stood to the cost by whoever did the work.

It's not constant work when your self employed though, I've dug a random worker out of my file and the person earnt from April 6th 2004 - April 5th 2005, £43,390 gross and they worked 218days in that period.

Read the post - he said people associate the job with bad pay, when in fact the opposite is often true.

I own a corsa as something to do on weekends, I've driven it 4 times since November, I also have other vehicles, but I see your point, all I can say is I'm not a materialistic person, I'd rather have a decent runner for 5k than a 50k Ferrari as they do the same job, and the corsa is just something I can play with on a track.

Agreed, I tender for work in mainly southern areas, up north there are more traders and firms that screw prices down, therefore people either not working, or working for lower prices.

My everyday car is a Bishi Warrior, uncle sells cars for Mitsubishi and he gave me £900 discount.
