Salary would depend on the size of the department you are managing? Is it an office of techies or 1st/2nd line/NOC/Server team etc etc.
Good luck!

In the Council which has a pretty rigid wage structure this type of job would got for £24 to £28k. But in the council you generaly get paid less then in the private sector. So I would say this job should be anything between £26 and £32k

depends who you talk to jimmy.
Some one at the company im contracted to got confused when she saw IT and sent an email to an email address containing IT. few hours later some of the guys in Italy sent the email on to me
I had to explain to her what things like UK, SP, US, IT, etc meant.
Taking into account this is a global company.

I'm a boss myself, and I don't particularly entertain all this techno-jargon, I'd rather a potential employee say to me "I'm quite good at using a PC, sending emails, fiddling with programs etc.... I like a few cups of tea, but I get my work done and I will graft like fuck".

You also have to way up wether you'd rather do a job you enjoy and get less money or do a more stressfull and maybe less enjoying job and get more money. I learnt the hard way and now do a job I enjoy for a little bit less cash.

Yes, I think of it like this.........
Job you enjoy = 20k
Job you get stressed doing = 23k
Is £3,000 enough to be stressed for 1 year, and if so, how is it justified?

Novell Netware sys admin
Linux sys admin
BSc Computer Science
I basically did the job (start of the thread) for my placement year in Uni. I was on 14k a year as a Student 7 years ago. It should be better paid than 20k... but not by much.
The role sounds glamourised to be honest
Not sure what the support guys get at my work.... would think 30+
