I would prefer if this site was not involved in publishing, as an editor has been arrested for the same.

Discuss perhaps, but I don't want any part in reproduction of any material.

editor arrested?

I know the french guy was sacked.

personally I see nothign wrong with the cartoons. we live in a country where you have the right to freedom of speach and expression within the law. any organisation or sect is open to joke. no matter which religion you take the piss out of they always react in some way. its just the muslims feel the need to react in a way that is wrong. for a religion that is ment ot be peace loving they really don't show it.

All the end of the day I couldn't give a monkeys about freedom of speech. If you want that, stand on a milk crate in town.

Hmmm, indeed.

It would be nice if these fundamentalists would step back and pause for a second and get some perspective.

Imagine the carnage if we had fundamentalist Christians.

Towns and cities in America would burn and the streets would flow with blood everytime 'Jesus and pals' was depicted on South Park or Ned Flanders or the Reverend Lovejoy had a hard time on The Simpsons.

Images such as this are such a tragic and damning endightment of how hopeless the future would seem to be for mankind.

Plenty of white muslims about.

Yes, but even so, I thought they tend to change their names as well?

i.e. Cat Stevens > Youssef Islam or whatever he changed it to
Cassius Clay > Muhammad Ali

etc.

Good point Sam - they invariably do.

i havnt seen the cartoon and dont understand the muslim religion so im not sure how bad this cartoon is... BUT what really annoyed me was the protesters in london had banners saying 'europe needs to be destroyed' 'behead anyone who doesnt have faith in islam' etc. now i find that offensive yet free speech allows them to get away with it, but somehow free speech doesnt apply to anyone who even prints the cartoon??

We have a Muslim guy at work, he's borderline fanatical. Quite scary how much they believe in something. I understand he has a faith etc... but the lengths to which they follow their faith is a little scary at times. He's always trying to preach to anyone that will listen. Also been pulled into the managers office before as he's always having little digs at this devote Christian lad at work.

Muslims are tapped, they caused a bit of a riot at my local snooker club just because one of them lost to a white lad in a knockout (literally).

from a personal standpoint, all religion is pure nonsence. the world would be better off if people all lived knowing that there is nothing else after death. i'm sick of all the crap caused and a direct result of stoopid religion. as someone mentioned previously on this site, some professer whose quest it is to dispel religion, offered the following question. what makes a person choose religion?? do they look at all the religions and decide which one feels right for them to "believe" in, to "follow"? or do they just believe in what they are told to, such as by their parents? all i can say is anyone who believes there is something more to life than living and dying, you are being very naiive. screw religion, all religions. imo.

except maybe the teachings of budhism to an extent, applying certain insights to ones own life such as realising the world is more tha just lookin out for number 1, to treat everyone as you'd like to be treated. sorry for the essay but i really hate how much crap religion has caused in this world.

I agree completely with the above statement. I have never understood christianity and religion in general, it's just nonsense. I suppose the whole bible thing was once used to teach people right and wrong but to be fair i think the majority of the human race have cottoned on! I also think it's unfair that kids are forced into religion from such a young age, how can a child decide whether it wants to be christened!
It causes a lot of problems, theres no doubt.

There is no god, or allah etc..... it's all a big coverstory to hide the fact they're scared of dying.

i also think the world would be a better place without religion's, look at northern ireland and israel for example all that hatred fueled by religion and when you really study the different religions they all have the same thing in common... they dont really make much sense.

how many people actually believe that an elephant and a man with 6 arms lives in the clouds
