Of course it's possible but it isn't worth it so I doubt any licencee does it. The fact that it is quite difficult to get a licence in the first place means you don't really want to loose it. Especially for a chain bar like 'Spoons.

they also do not buy in nearly out of date kegs for cheaper price, thats bollocks. and if anything kegs/bottles approaches or is past its BB date, they dont sell it off cheap, even the staff cant have it

iv worked in 4 wetherspoons pubs and no its certainly not true for any of them! And have spoken to not only the area managers but company directors, i know they wouldnt allow it to happn in any other pubs. I myself do ALOT of the work in the cellar in my pub as well as making the beer orders, etc

could be down to a number of things:
1) different batch of lager
2) contamination
3) lines not being cleaned
4) not being connected properly, etc

Cleanliness (or lack of it) of the lines i'd imagine.

Cus its normally going out of date , pubs can buy "reduced to clear" stock that is passing the sale/use buy date and thats why.
Exactly , #
u'll find the worst offenders of this are the big places like wetherspoons and such like...companies that can buy in shit loads of out of date stuff at cheap as chip prices and then shift it off cheap still making a profit.
