Desktop Support Engineer

Got it by being a team leader in a call centre and just chatting to the IT guys. They where impressed i'd manage to download and play N64 games on their secure netowrk lol.

When one left I got the job and i've been doing it for nearly 2 years now. Only got 4 GCSE's at school, went to college and got another 4 and then started work. Its took me a while to start earning what I wanted for the amount of effort I put in though. Still only starting my career in IT some hopefully the money can only get better

trainee energy consultant.

Got it by working up the company over three years.
started as fire test technician with 10 gcse's, and 3 a levels, moved up to mechanical test engineer after a year, then changed up again about six months ago.

my boss is just leaving, so i'll either get a promotion to fill his shoes, or someone else will replace him which'll make it shit.

could make a career of this, but i'm not sure that it's what i want to do.

Architectural Technician

I got kicked out of scool at 18, worked at the coop full time for a bit, parents booked me in at the careers advice centre and they told me to write letters to all the local Architects firms.
Ended up getting offered the second job i had an interview for after being an hour late for the interview.
I have been here 5 1/2 years and almost finished my Higher National Diploma in Building Studies then i will be fully qualified. Once qualified im planning to move jobs to earn monre money, when ya climbing the ladder at a firm wage increses are slow so a move is on the cards in the next 18months hopefully up north to be closer to me missus

I work for the DVLA.

Started off by getting GCSE's in school and then on to college for 2 advanced vocational A levels in IT.

To join the DVLA you only need a 'C' grade GCSE in english or you can sit an internal exam.

Anyway I got a job as an AA (Admin Assistant - lowest paid grade basically) 2 1/2 years ago working on the phones (Vehicles side) Only stayed there for 3 months before they realised that I had more potenial than a phone monkey.

So they moved me onto the eletronic vehicle licensing project (the website that lets you tax/sorn your car over the net) as a system tester. I worked there for a year and a half. Then I got promoted to an AO (Admin Officer) better pay and I can manage staff.

Currently I working on the drivers re-engneering porject (This will let you apply for driving licences over the internet) again as a system tester.

The only thing about being a civil servant though is that the money aint what it should be but I do get tons of holidays!

Life story over

I do my qualification on a day release basis, i should have passed the course a year ago but fooked it up
SO ever thursday im at college, you have to do 2 years on a ONC course then go do the 2 years at HNC to be fully qualified, Employers only really look for the HNC qualification as the ONC is very basic, ask ya boss about it, if ya want to join BIAT (British Instutute For Architectural Technicians) ya need the HNC. At the moment i couldnt get employed at another architect practice so need this piece of paper so i can move on.

I am a Ski Instructor. I phoned up the Snowdome in Tamworth to ask if they had any instructor jobs and they gave me the job. Interesting. Oh, though I did go to Canada for a 3.5 month holiday to train up, though I got certified as an instructor within a week of getting there I would list my GCSE's and A levels, but they mean bugger all and serve no purpose in life.
