ah don't matter then if your buying private.try cahoot or northern rock they do there loans at 5.8% and i think cahoot tell you more or less straight away if you can have a loan.egg are a bit pricey at 7.9%

Dealer finance isn't necessarily cheaper, in fact its likely to work out more as car finance generally isn't as competitive as normal loans.

There are far better termination clauses in car finance for both parties but for 4k on a used car I wouldn't worry, not when the rate is so much better on straight loan.

Unfortunately both of those companies require me to be 21

Ill do my rounds round the banks tomorrow morning. It looks like I might have to compromise and go with a higher rate in order to get the money.
