No it doesn't it depends on the year of the car.

An early NDBW car will strugle to get past 190BHP after chipping where as a DBW car will get to around 202BHP.

Swings and round abouts though as I've got an early NDBW car with an AGU code engine. So that means it's got the big port head and inlet, which is easier to tune past 300+

Astra is 230ish chipped. I'll take you out in mine at some point and go Audi hunting if you're in doubt of which is quickest for management mods.

Hi guys - long time no see You can pick up a mint condition1996 GT4 for around 6.5K. 4WD and goes like shit off a shovel as standard (240-255bhp). In fact that's what I'm using now as my everday car

Nice car for cruising, yet take it on the twisty stuff and watch it eat most FWD cars for brekky. A decent downpipe and exhaust will see you with 275bhp no probs; add a boost controller and a reliable 300bhp is yours for less than an extra grand of outlay.

Downsides - quite reliable, but requires regular maintenance. Parts aren't cheap and insurance is high (unless you're and old fart like me )
