This has been argued about so many times.

Basically, the impartial answer you are looking for that if both cars are driven properly there isnt really much in it 0-60. But after that the corsa will pull away.

Jesus we have this post every week...

See below - Exhaust + filter on my 106 gti = 15.3 1/4 mile...

Most 2.0 16v's will do 1/4 in 15.5's (lower if they're good driver / decent engine / exhaust etc as well)

both completly standard engines then the xe corsa will have it on the straight. the vts/gti isnt really geared for top speed racing.

start tuning the gti/vts and bye bye xe corsa very early on as they respond to mods very well. dont know how a 210bhp xe corsa would do against a 180bhp gti but ive seen a gti run 13.5 at pod before which is impreesive

please, refrain from this. you cant compare a car with a std engine vs one with a complete engine conversion.

saxo vts would win all day long

no, different league all together.

really, you shouldnt even be comparing a saxo vts to a 20xe, should be the c16 and x16xe's as thats the same size engine in a same size car.

The gearing isn't the reason the XE is better top end. It's the lack of power / torque to get it there quickly in 5th

all depends on the xe engine aswell! as when i tool mine to rollers there was about 15 bhp differance between mine and another one....

I have own'd both a XE corsa and curently have a Saxo Vts...

IMO corsa would be faster but saxo not that far behind....

based on std motors....

On a more jokier note, if you think you can molest a 2litre XE then try it against me, muppetsport and Tim, you'll be wanting santa to come back and bring you a 10k engine fools!!

laughable you think the only difference between a vtr engine and a vts is 8 valves

like already been said the vts and xe both as std form would be similar to about 80/90 after that the corsa may edge away slowly

round corners no contest

really, your argument is pointless and a waste of time, find something more constructive to compare such as blue neons and red neons for a 20ft distance in the dark.

you cannot compare, and i repeat, cannot, a car which has had a complete engine change that was never ever supposed to be uner the bonnet to a shell and chasis and engine that the designers had in mind when they developed the car.

its like comparing an apple and a person in an apple costume.

its what known as little ricks in 1400 furios/west coasts and vtr's badged up as vts's !

0-100mph i reckon if the corsa was to make any shifting mistake the vts wud pull in front,

after 100mph i should hope a 106gti/vts would start losing !

although put a decent zorst, filter, manifold on a gti/vts and its a diff story.

a vts wont keep up with a xe, maybe to 30-40, but not 80-90
