never totally understood why they strap the front of a car,,,surely it would fly off the rollers and crashe into the fan before the straps took effect

the car sit's on top of those rollers instead of the front wheel inbetween 2 rollers like at the scottish rr day.

without the front straps the car moves sideways on the rollers

Normally they strap the rear wheels down. But to be honest, it isn't going anywhere. Plus the operator will stamp on the brakes if anything bad happens.
