Oil isn't going to be where the money is for much longer. There won't be any left in a while, and we shouldn't be burning fossil fuels anymore or we'll all die.

I done my degree as a day release from work. Fair enough it took me longer but I now have a degree plus experiance. Most people I know who went to Uni are really struggling to find decent jobs, apart from the ones who studied Law and Medicine.

BA Hons, Computer and Video Games. I have the prequisite to get onto this course due to what im studying at the moment, and visited the uni today..
I just dont know if its really worthwhile when I could be earning £20k a year from a full time :/
I'm doing BSc Computer Games Technology at John Moores... not a bad course! tis mainly development & coding of the games, design, hardware specifications, etc.... 4 year course though as its a sandwich course with a year out in industry & only 5 companies out of near a hundred who take people for the year are in the uk! rest are america, etc...
I left college in 1999, and to be honest, i was getting no-where job wise, jus dead end shit & so i decided purely to go uni to better myself & get into something I really enjoy!
But I warn you... they throw you in the deep end on my course, if your shit at programming, or never done anything like that before, dont bother! were already doing pretty mad C++ as it is and i only started in september... coursework 2 for my course (due to be given out in a few weeks) from what all the 2nd year students say, is design, code and test a complete 2d platform game...

i should finish with about 6-8k debt from my uni loan,
With my job aim - team principal for a race team it would take about 30 years to work to that position.
I can finish uni and going in as a number 2 mechanic, engineer of some description and earn 20k to start,
I enjoy my degree, the social side, when i speak to mates back home who work full time doing the same job its quite hard as the level of conversation is quite different.
I have learnt hell of a lot in just 18 months and im off on placement in july 2006. which i need as majority of companies ask for 3 year exp in that field or degree and a placement year!
ALL DEPENDS WHAT YOU INTEND TO DO!

i have a mate who is 21 now, he did a nvq in bricklaying.
He now has 4 people working for him, and builds houses, he build his folks an ace house that he uses as a showroom place and his name has grown from strength to strength, he earns about 35k a year after tax which is pretty goo as has to pay 4 wages from that too!

Was thinking exactly the same thing, if you don't mind telling us? And what is your normal daily driver, if the Corsa is for track days?

just as well your opinion is worthless
apparently yo never read the comments before. if you require a degree to do the job (e.g mine scientist) then you have to go to uni. if you can afford to go then its a good thing to do but doing a degree without knowning what you want out of it at the end is a bit silly these days.
out of interest what do your friends have degree's in

im just ending my first semester of my llb commercial law degree and loving the course and the whole uni experience! i dont care about debt as once ur earning it will go very very quickly!!
i have to do a degree to become a solicitor and i should hopefully be earning a nice tidy packet so for me its 100% worth it!

if you get in so much debt, how come you have so much money to throw at a car? is it much debt from fees or just because you decided to take out a fat loan and spend it on goodies?

Might aswell add to this, I started my Transport + Product design course this september, It's a 4 year course with a placement in the third year.
Out of the mates i grew up with, i'm the only one thats gone to uni because they all believe that it's a waste of money
While i was at college i worked at Currys part time selling the same stuff everyday, it killed me doing a job that i had no interest in whatsoever and there are people that have worked there for 20 odd years.
So i made the choice to just go for it, i'm still young, got no responsibilities* and I want to drive to work with a smile on my face later on!
I'll come out of uni with 15k of debt yeah, but there are people who spend more than that modifying there cars and get nothing back at the end! At least i'll have had the experience, and met a lot of new friends from allover the world! And get an inch closer to my dream job
