Indeed you could but the ov2 stuff uses long/lat inside the data, mine uses a complete list of all UK post codes and pinpoints stuff using that. Bit more useful as you full address to navigate to as I don't have road information yet. The Tom Tom stuff is more accurate but only really useful inside a nav system with its own map.
The ov2 stuff I've seen also doesn't contain things like phone numbers for the places so you would know there's a Travelodge nearby but not how to contact them.
There's software called POIConvert which will hack the format about to make them more readable, it'll do CSV so basically plain text but like I say, accurate but not really detailed enough.

just had a look there, i have vaux dealers in cummnock then glasgow greenok etc. there is a kerr and smith in ayr and an arnold clark in kilmarnock not sure if it is there.
