If the couple dont belive in abortion AND they dont want kids they should be taking double the precaution.

Condom + Pill

Whats the chances of them getting pregnant then? 0.000001% ?

If you plan to put it in then you planned to have children. Social sex is a myth, this is science.

My slant - family allowance is for the family. Its not called children allowance, and you don't get it to directly benefit the child. The family unit has many outgoings and things totally unrelated to the child can still benefit them. There are many examples which you might say its not for the child and therefore the parent shouldn't have it but the parents wellfare does directly affect the child so I would say family income is simply that.

Where I don't agree with family benefits is where the family income is spent in a way that directly hinders the children, like spending on non-essential things before the children get to see it.

Examples include that huge family living in the council house who have been in the press recently. Apparently - and I may be going on bad information here - but they are no stranger to foreign holidays and have a big TV. Personally I would have been putting that money towards accomodation for at least one of the children in the most appropriate university for their chosen career. The government wants 50% in higher education, I'm sure out of a family that big there is at least one kid could have a go - but where is the money to send them? Spent on flights to Corfu.

Even if they don't go - any saving will help them in their own houses in the future - assuming they intend to buy and not get them for free.

maybe when you have a child and you see how much money you loose by having a child then maybe you'll understand.

6 months of maternity leave is not paid at your full wage unless your employer is nice. you get 90% of your wage for the first 6 weeks then 102.80 for the remaining 20. if you take more leave it is unpaid. then when you go back to work you either pay a nursery to look after your child while you work (costs a fucking bomb), work part time get less money and still have to pay out for care or be very lucky like me and have your inlaws look after your son while you work. so not only do you take a reduction in pay but you have to pay out more because you have someone extra to cloth and feed. so getting a bit extra off the goverment goes towards the loss you take by having a child. most people will get child benifit @ £17 a week. there are two other kind of credits Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit. we get child tax credit of £936 for a combined income of £36k we do not quality working tax credit. however unlike your opinion mine is based on pure fact so unless your in the situation of having a child and understanding how difficult it is to bring them up when your on a low income I want you to STFU on this subject
