I have caller id and most of the time i just say i no understandy what you saying???? Then hang up.

The last cold-caller I got, the conversation went along the lines of:
Salesman: Hello, I'm from <X>, we deal in double-glazing, are you available to talk?
Me: Yes, I was considering having my windows done......oh, hold on, there's someone at the door, would you mind waiting just 5 seconds while I answer it?
Salesman: That's fine.
Me: Okay, thanks, I'll just pop you on hold, won't be a moment.
*places phone next to stereo-speaker, and pops on an MP3 on "repeat"*
The salesman waited three entire repetitions of the song before he hung up!

i'm not x directory but got call preference so shouldn't get cold calls, the bastards go through phone book which is illegal...
i say to them how you get this number i have call preference, they usually hang up or say sorry and hang up...
