because supermarkets like tesco and asda only charge enough to cover their overheads such as staff and forecourt costs. they provide the petrol station as a service to their customers and do not make any profit on it at all
which brings me to my next point, if the delivery cost is more to where you love this is what will make the price 10p per litre more

Red diesel is red for a reason...its only meant to be used by farmers etc...
I doubt it would be sold at an everyday petrol station...

I was talking to a petrol station owner today who was paying 88.9 a litre and selling at 94.9, 6p markup even on 50,000 litres of fuel hardly covers most peoples costs.
When he tried to order feul on friday it was 1.03 to him.
He ended up waiting till today and buying it at 99.5 and is selling at 99.9. A great mark up eh!
Ife he sells 50,000 litres this month he will make £200.

Don't risk it, good chance of supermarket fuel having high water content, aswell as being a poorer quality blend leading to pre-ignition, detonation etc.
So a bit of a false economy realy.
'Tis true you get what you pay for and with petrol you REALY pay for it

When will people realise that tax - although admittedly a large part pf petrol prices - is NOT the driver for these rises!!!! The only tax rise is via the budget and accounts for no more than 5-10p over the last 4 years
And as several people have said - end of the day, we need petrol; we buy it... doesn't make a shit of difference how much it is... if people want to complain then write to BP... they make £25m a day off us

We moaned when the price rose from 75.9p to 80.9p. If the price of petrol was revert to 80.9p NOW, we wont moaning but be jumping around in joy!
Just have to live with the prices!

can't be annoyed to look any further but it went up 34% due to tax after the election back then.
Thats more than 10p from my counting.
Fuel tax runs the economy.
They blatantly tax diesel more for what reason?

moaning about it doesnt help though, you have a car, you need petrol, end of.
the oil companies know that and they can charge however much they want
Its the tax.
Even if the oil company put the prices up a couple of pence there's still about 70p tax ontop of that.
A couple of p when theres a crisis or something woudln't be a problem if we weren't already paying so much.
And I wish someone would tell me why diesel costs more.
diesel costs more because the process of extracting it from crude oil is more costly in refineries.
& i dont see how reducing the tax is going to help, that money has to come from somewhere, you will just end up paying higher taxes elsewhere

WTF
Diesel costs less to refine.
Diesel was originally the stuff they didn't want.
Why is it cheaper that petrol everywhere else?
Why was it cheaper than petrol here if it costs mroe to refine?

From what I have just read the demand for diesel is too high atm.
Thats the latest excuse.
It does not cost more to refine it htough.
