well they were as helpfull as a chocolate fire guard basically i dont have a leg on over the price as there was no price agreed for the extra work all i can do is haggle, i did mention the paying of cash to cut the vat they werent to impressed with that lol

there advise was the haggle the price, and state that under the services act 1982 services must be provided at a reasonable rate and with good workmans ship.
what ever that means lol

exactly so if it doesnt comply to that act, dont pay em, if you get quotes from other body shops to do similar work, if it went to court they would bummed on this very act

pay by check, u could always cancel it straight away, if you pay cash he is getting more out it as he can pocket as much as he likes without putting it through the books

As has been suggested. pay by cheque if they are unwilling to move on price.
then cancel the cheque straight away.

Bodyshops can be intimidating places imo
