Losing Bent was always going to happen, even if we'd of gone up he'd of stayed for a year then gone, to be honest I really do think he's overhyped, he get's to the ball first but does nothing with it, yes if he gets a ball put through to him he'll probably score, but he can't take on anyone for shit and he can't head a ball neither - so the money we got was good, very good.
Davis going to Sunderland, not such bad news, we have got some very good young keepers (probably the best young keepers in the championship) so giving them a chance is a blessing in idsguise, I have however heard that we might be getting Richard Wright back from Everton, not a bad move if the price is cheap enough but do we need him? Not sure.
Tommy Miller going to Sunderland, shame a reall pity, the guy gave everything he had everygame and was a good scoring midfielder, he'll be missed the most out of the already departed players imo.
Kuqi, will be a shame to see him go but to be honest I don't think he's Premiership quality and Mark Hughes must of seen something in him that I can't if he's thinking of going for him - if he goes I'd like to see Markus Stewart come back for a season or two (I think he's already gone to Bristol though) - he's a proven goal scorer at this level and could do a job for us, wether the majority of the Ipswich fans would want him and his attitude around town again though is a different matter.....
I think Magilton will stay on for another season but he's getting on and we need someone to take his place - who? I don't know....
Counago going is a bit of a strange one, when he played a few games towards the end of the season he played out of his skin, but that was cos he knew he had to in order to try and get a new contract - could he do it week in week out? Probably not.
Diallo was ok when we got him and is now dreadful, get rid.
Wilnis can still do another season at this level then I expect he'll go back to Holland.
Unsworth, go back to Pompey, no great loss.
De Vos, keep him, he's solid most of the time and fits in well with Royles style of play.
Shame we couldn't get someone like Darren Ambrose back on a years loan, there were rumours of maybe Cliche (Arsenal) and/or Huth (Chelsea) being link with a seasons loan move but I very much doubt it.

I think the team that will struggle most will be Crystal Palace, they will lose Andy Johnson and without him they are nothing, Norwich also, they'll lose Green, probably Huckerby and Bentley (may go back to Arsenal but I doubt it) so they won't be in good shape (Good fucking job!).
Southampton should be ok for promotion aslong as Harry can keep some of the better players, but I think Philips will go as will a couple of other (Niemi first of all).
It's going to be tricky for Ipswich but Royle knows wht he's doing, Sheepshanks likes to think he knows what hes doing so ho knows?

I'd of liked to of seen Burley back at the club though, not as manager but in some other postition, he's held in high esteem round here and would be a boost to the club and fans...

Just my 2p's worth.

Its good to hear the opnion of another Ipswich supporter who lives around that way, living in Reading we don't get the local papers or see the rumours or the transfers until they appear on Sky Sports or BBC.

Your right about Bent, deffo over rated and getting 3 mill for him was a good bit of work by Sheepshanks

Kuqi going as you say is no great loss, and against Premiership defenders he is going to really struggle to score goals.

Loosing Miller like you say is a big shame, and Counago I think will be missed. His on the ball control is amazing and I heard he even offered to take a massive pay cut to stay at Ipswich, I think Bowditch and Counago could have done a job next season.

As for signing another keeper I really don't think we need one, Lewis Price when he filled in for Kelvin when his back went done a excellent job and at one point Kelvin was worried about getting his place back Price was playing that well.

I would have Ambrose back for a season deffo. He would be awesome in the Championship and with Parker going to Newcastle where does Ambrose fit in? I seriously think he could be on his way back (fingers crossed)

Matt Richards is'nt good enough IMO, he is the slowest teenager I have ever seen, he is better than Diallo but not much

Having recently won the FA Youth Cup surely Big Fat Joe will use some of that team to strengthen the first team, players like Daryll Knight, Dean McDonald, Charlie Sheringham could play their part, there good enough for the Championship.

How do you feel about Royle wanting to get Nicky Forster in? I'm 50/50 about him, I think he has potential and at Reading his is horredous because of the shite players around him and the football Reading play which is kick it to the forwards and hope they can get on the end of it, maybe with a more passing orientated team he could be quite good.

I know for sure if we do get him I will get Forster writen on the back of my new shirt to wind up the Reading fans

LOL!! I'm not convinced about Forster tbh, there are worse signings out there but there are better ones!

I think Knight has come on from the bench for a couple of games last season so I'd be surprised if he didn't get a few more games under his belt, also like you say some more of the FA youth cup winning team could easily fit in, at this reate we'll have one of the youngest teams in the league and if we can get players like Magilton, Wilnis and De Vos to guide them we could be on to a good thing!

I do think Lewis Price is good, not upto Davis standards but not far off (Davis imo was the best keeer in the championship for the last two or three seasons) no surprise he's gone, he's a better keeper than Green at Norwich and that scarecrow has been called upto to the England squad recently!! What a joke!
I'd like to see Wright back between the sticks but I don't think he's needed as much as players are in other areas of the pitch.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ambrose went to another Premiership club, at the end of the day he's now on Premiership wages and we can't afford them by a long stretch - it'd take Newcastle to pay most of his wages if he was to come down here on loan for a bit of experience.

Counago offered to take a massive paycut but only when he knew his contract was coming to an end, he never offered to do it a year or two ago when we went into administration, he stayed on his £20k a week while the rest of the club was on it's knee's, the guy is a money grabbing tosser, yes he's good on the pitch but he needs to learn a thing or to about loyalty and commitment first.
I believe it was probably more Sheepshanks decision to get rid of him rather than Royles.

Matt Richards is good, but like you say he's slow, but in his postition speed isn't common and not really needed aslong as he can cut the ball out and get rid of it before a winger or striker blazes past him!
But that doesn't happen too often so I'm undecided, he could turn out to be great in a year or two - this season is make or break for him really!

It'll be interesting to see who we have in the team next season, at least we'll have Red Richard at the back!

Im sorry but, you have to fancy wolves this season. financialy stable. havent lost anyone we wanted to keep, and Hoddle looking to sign a few more players after Mcnamara, who turned down a new Celtic contract to play for us after hearing from Glenn who he was also hoping to sign.

Hope this is the year!

The reason you got so much for bent with only one year left as is he is under 24. Owen would have walked for nothing at the end of his contract. Bent would still have commanded a tribual fee, which probably wouldnt have been far off £3million with his reputation

Ok. He is good, just never given the chance after Robson was sacked.

Souness is such a better/proven manager than Robson
