im getting the 184 bhp 1.6 throttle body kit for my next project

and throttle bodies sound baaaarp pop bang pop baaaaaaaaaaaaarp

They sound amazing do it! JR's old 1.4 had 136 bhp without TB's and all it needed was TB's to finish it. It was an amazing engine. It ran a 15.7 on its first and only 1/4 mile which is XE teritory. PLus with TB's i reckon it would of been mad

you need to try the 1600, tis good

when the carsb are on it it will be

I will have to give it a try

...if mapped correctly.

It'll drink more fuel if your flat out...... purely because you are getting more air in with 4 throttles rather than 1

Lower down if it's set-up right it'd be the same or better tho.

There was a bloke with a nova 1.4 16v with TB's pushing 185bhp that was well nice that car.

1.4 or 1.6 on tbs will be fun. if done right you can acheive more power than an xe quite easily.
Its different and its good to be different is the way i look at it

i know a lad with a 1.4 on throttle bodies, puts out 135 bhp with the sbd kit, exhaust, janspeed manifold. keeps up with my 1.6 16v 155bhp easy as he has a lot more tourque lower down and my power is at 7000 rpm! as far as the efficincy, throttle bodies are more efficient then a standard engine as long as you drive it sensibly, but if you floor it everywhere (which you probably will as the sound is ) it will drink a bit more fuel. the lad with the 1.4 gets 80 miles to £10 and he drives it pretty hard as well.

much more fun than a 2.0 16v corsa any day.

But what is the MPG??!?! 400 miles to £0 means you steal fuel. 0 miles to £400 means you have a hole at the bottom of your petrol tank.

Less hassle with TBs. Just the fitting which would take a couple of hours.

Personally it'd depends on the milage of the engine if it were me. if your 1.4's only done low miles, then stick with that and get TB's. If its done a fair few, just get a reconditioned 2.0 .
