We booked up to go to Tenerife a few years back, we booked well in advance, about 8 months. Anyway we recieved a letter about 4 weeks before we were supposed to be going saying how there is contruction work going on at the hotel next door and that there were 4 cranes set up around the site. They then went on to ask if that was ok or if we'd like to change! We demanded a new hotel but there was nothing available due to it being peak season. So we ended up in a different country all together! Settled for Cyprus in the end.

Bit cuntish, i'm sure this building work wouldve been planned and that they wouldve known this would conflict with the time we were supposed to be out there.

But again it was either Cyprus or nothing, and Cyprus isn't exactly Bognor so we got over it and had a good holiday anyway.

Hopefully it won't rain. There's the potential for lots of things to go wrong if it does leaking roofs and the rest of it

Yer, went in 2003 just to the east of La Romana, cant remember the resort tho, was all inclusive and right on the beach. Was awesome

The Occidental hotels are all good standard, if you're in Puerto Plata it'll hopefully be the Jack Tar village - it's got a casion on site

What was the hotel you were originally booked for?

Riu Merengue is right in Puerto Plata. The Jack Tar village is about 4 miles from that on the Playa Dorada resort complex (shared with about 8 hotels) which has loads of facilities and stuff.

Ignore the reviews you read on the web, your never going to please all of the people all of the time

Were off to Sandals in Antigua next week, some people have said its shit and others the best holiday they've ever had...

At the end of the day, if people are used to the ritz and they go there, it probably wont be as good...but for the average Joe, I bet it will be brilliant

Most of the all-inclusive hotels in Puerto Plata are excellent, expect a great chilled out holiday.
