I'm thinking the same. But as so many people have said, degree's aren't worth as much as they used to be - especially one in Music
I'm taking it all as it comes

In my opinion you have to have a particular aim before you contemplate choosing a course. I've always been into the design side of computers, web design, etc, and I'm now sad enough to know Photoshop down to every shortcut. I do Multimedia Computing at Uni, in my second year.
A few mates of mine have gone to Uni because they don't know what the feck they want to do and low and behold, they drop out sooner rather than later.
Fair enough your course may be boring and crap, some parts of my design course are crap. Ive had to put up with Visual Basic, Systems Analysis, and others, but you take the rough with the smooth because there's nothing else you can do. At the end of the day, depending on your work load, and how easy you find the course you might have a feckin good degree to show an employer afterwards.
Uni life is great though, I'm in Uni about 10 hours a week, so I get to sleep and drink alot as well as turn up for an hour on the odd day.
If you can have a particular preference and know what you sort of thing you want to go for then go for it.

well that's a good point
I really like networking but i get a bit bored of all the shoot but i know there's a market for it, but if i don't enjoy it then i dunno if it's worth the bother.
Where as Multimedia, photoshop, macromedia tools, etc. I really enjoy but i never thought there would be a career in it. What sort of careers can you get, like what industry?

VB - ITAS I know all this shit and don't want to have to cover it again, i'm seriously considering going to uni now. Bugger . I need to go investigate and i'll need references i think to get back in, shoot.
Yea but doing what sort of work though. I've never looked into that sector before, are we talking CAD type jobs or advert type deisgns or a bit of everything that involves design . I'll go investigate tomorrow.

I've always been told, it's not what you know, it's who you know.
I've managed to fall on my feet and am off to work in the middle east in a month and a halfs time.

Matt knows this feeling...
I'd rather eat whale blubber for the rest of my life than have the sausage removed from my ass.

Go into Uni accomodation. Meet new people, probably cheaper than where you're living now?
Suppose a bit of me wishes I went into Uni accomodation. I decided not to because I wanted a car to get me around. That, and I'm a bone idol bastard.

Im at uni now, took a gap year and travelled oz and japan.
Uni is ace but depends on what u want to do,
im studying motorsport engineering and theres not many race teams that take on people with just a levels!
The social is ace, where ive been all night
meet friends and have a laugh you cannot beat that for sure!
I love uni and couldnt and wouldnt have got into my career choice without it!

Not to get the job back then but it would certainly help now as they're asking for more formal training rather than just subject knowledge these days. Plus its going to help me in the next few years moving jobs inside of there. You could become a lecturer with a Cert Ed qualification which only lasts 2 years but of course its not transferrable like a degree. Its college teaching or nothing.

Just wondering because i didn't go because i need the work experience as most jobs want 2-3 years experience with qualifications but i can work and get qualifications so i didn't see the point. Or they just want you to have 2+ years of relevant experience. I already know the course work, i just get bored sitting listening to the same shoot over and over again for the ones who just can't grasp the fact that you press the power button and the computer turns on.
I've spoken to a fairly large majority who've said that degree's are pretty much worthless nowadays and it's mainly experience which i have seen quite a few times tbh. I know my shoot . Many people going from uni and getting shoot jobs because they don't have the experience.
I only want to go for the social life, not fussed about the degree. I'll get it but student life was great lol, minus having no money and gettin student debts .
May go in the next year or 2 though depending on if i'm still playing ice hockey because that takes up most of my time with travelling and all that shoot. I'll have to fund myself though which i'll be pretty shoot.
Anyway comments/views/opinions on uni and going to uni n all that jazz.
18 when I started college
20 when I started uni the first time
24 when I started the second time
30 when I hopefully start a 3rd time
