We had a competition at school for business studies - that everyone had 100 quid virtual money to play on the stock market...

Quite a few people made a loss, some made a profit of like 10 quid.

I turned my 100 pounds into 206 pounds in about 3 months.

106 pounds profit might not sound like much to people but I basically doubled my money - so If I had started with 10,000 I'd have ended up with 20k

I've been tempted to do it since, but don't wanna gamble my money - it's all luck really, the stocks could go down, as well as going up and when they're going up you've gotta decide when to sell before they go back down again!

If you do stocks, read the Financial times and things - Get idea's about companies that'll be doing things like mergers in the future etc... Buy stocks well in advanced and then when the merger happens stock prices should rocket - then sell sell sell before they come back down.

I don't suggest buying any stocks in MG / Rover

Yahoo messenger had a built in Stock Tracker too - so it gave you live output of what the stock prices were and whether they were going up or down - in real time all the time!

Was good to have on your desktop.

You need to do research first!

Pointless buying shares in most big companies in my opinion - as they'll be fucking expensive! so if they go up you may only make 2% profit or whatever!

Where as a new company up and coming - about to float itself on the market or doing a merger - will be cheap to start with and will rocket up!

Just more risky imo - hence why I say research with Financial times and on the net!

but how would anyone know just by researching whether a company is about to rocket, whats like the minimum amount of monet that would be worth buying shares with £250?

http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/q?s=NTLI

this is the problem with companies like NTL - $67 per share!!! you need a big budget to buy a lot - thus to make any profit

if it goes up to $68 ... that's $1 gain per share you have... so if you only have 100 shares - you only make $100

hence it's good to find cheaper up coming companies.

yer cars is a nice easy way to make money. But the problem i see - is driving them from the auctions without tax, insurance. Storing them without tax. Also slight risk the car will be fcuk up. Also could get stolen when uninsured.

with shares, they always go up and down every 15 min intervals. Can you not buy them in the morning, if they go up at nay time in the day, over the price you bought them for, sell sell sell. you might make £20. but do that with say a dozen companies, every day. £20 profit from each company, every day, could earn loads. what do u rekcon people?? ive had this idea for ages, just too scared to try it !!!

i just buy and sell things , anything i can earn a profit , i were selling kitchen units a while back , you might think wtf , but i were paying £5 a unit and selling them cheap at £15 , i work in building trade and shifted 100+units in a month .

then before that i bought 100 sony slim line cds players for £25 each , and sold about 30 of them for £50 and the rest for £45. i sold them all in a week.

then before that a mate were getting projectors , he wanted £300 each , i sold 5 for him at £500 each . i only gave them his mobile number , 1k for giving a phone number out aint bad going.

last year i got hold of 10 panasonic gd87s , bought them at £30 each and sold them for £100 , got shut of them in about 3 days.

its just about risks , but theres ALWAYS someone out there who wants what you got , its just how good you are at selling to how fast you shift it
