5 months is piss poor
I took my car to the bodyshop at 9am this morning, i took my tyres down to them at 12noon and they had already had the door off welded the side repeater and handle over and filled it and were just finishing smoothing it off!
Dont let them have the car back as they can easily hold it until you pay up!

Yes, Kevin this is what I have said for years, I don't think Corsas look as good with the arches smoothed in anyway.

If you use woven roving and lay up correctly - it WILL NEVER crack!!!!! It'll be stronger than steel for 1/2 the weight and u should never have an issue
it cracks when the muppets use P40 and P38 and bodge fill the gaps;
P40 is not fibreglass - its a bridging agent of chopped up bits of glass and resin - yet muppets still use it to smooth bodywork in 
Totally agree with this - if its done properly then it will not crack. The only thing that may cause a crack/stress mark is if you gave the area a whack with a speed bump or wheel etc. But then you could damage metal like that but as far as normal driving you should be fine

Not even then - I can guarantee our work - as rule of thumb I probably wont - as very few bodyshops will - but when was the last time u say a boat with a fracture in it caused by the light impacts that crack a smoothed arch - as I said - do it properly and it wont crack - Use the correct materials and it'll have excellent torsional, compressive, tensional and other propeties.
I tank test boats to simulate slamming, heaving, yawing etc and in simulated simulated waves upto 60 ft (scaled) Im yet to crack one

Live lee, can you paint cars? If so do you quality test them to stand up to a stone chip or 2? My last respray lasted 6months

I dont spray the cars yet - I use a local bodyshop - Spraynique - who originally did Stubbsys car, Jaffas car and my car - their paintwork is excellent; its low baked and very well applied - Ive got a couple of nicks now - but thats after nearly 2 years - nothing major
Im trying to find a good spraying night course to do over summer - or find some1 who-ll teach me ( I know the basics - but want to master it first)
I'll be onto producing more stuff as summer hits - I finsihed an escort with some 1 off styling and kit bits from other cars just before xmas but its now standard as he went through a hedge and his insurance company returned it to standard - as weve taken an order at the min to make one off windows for a couple who are renovating an old factory into a house - about 80 windows iirc - and theyre all different sizes arrrgh
Then gonna get my car done - possibly make a start over next couple of weeks - want to have something to show off the quality of our work - so customers can judge for themselves

thats piss poor if they cracked when u just went down the road...... i hate seeing threads likes this..... u sounded quite excited about getting it back on other threads, now this..... tak them all the way untill u get what u asked/payed for

where they a body shop that does accident repair or a bodyshop which specialises in car body styling?

My worry for you is that if u did give them the car back, they might refuse to return it without payment. For all you know they could just do some bodge up repairs which might look ok, but will quickly crack again.
To prove to a member of this site how strong our smoothed arches are when he visited the shop, i actually lifted the front end of the car up holding the arches... they should never crack that easilly.
Hope you get your prob with them sorted mate.

where was the legal info found, i could do with some for scotland. Had a problem when car got serviced, tracking was so far out it was unbelivable.
