bigger the aperture the smaller depth of field (part in focus)
smaller the aperture the larger the depth of field (alot on focus)

ok ive got A which is aperture i knw.... also got P and S so assuming S is shutter speed..... waht was P??? lol

yes for close up items however when they move further away the effects of a large aperture get removed somewhat. when I shoot sports I use f2.8. this is a large aperture so gives a shallow depth of field however when the subject is in the distance you get more in focus than if it was close up. also at larger focal distances the back ground is thrown out of focus.

example

soom at 200mm but close to subject gives a shallow DOF and throws the back ground out.




however this was also shot at f2.8 but was futher away so you still get the back ground blur (not as much) but you get a greater DOF

shutter speed

depending on camera depends on what the mode is called. on canon it's TV on nikon its ??? (ICY)

auto does everything for you -programe is slightly less but gives you a bit more freedom. I used it for indoor flash as it exposes very well. outdoors I'll use TV or AV modes mostly with exposure comp to correct

well she has not choosen the size yet but £22 for an A4 print in a frame and £35 for an A3 print in the frame. rought double what it costs the print and frame
