Ive manafed to get it on web so gona try and get windows updates and sp2 on it asap, fingers crossed!

Ah like fcuk, freezes Im gona keep plodding along with it, dont understand downloading the AMD 64 Windows XP will try that this afternoon!

sounds to me like its dodgy memory, or the processor is over heating....

if it is the HD, then just pop it into a fully working system, dump a load of stuff to it (as much as you can) and do a scan disk etc That should report any errors with it.
Also remember to install drivers during the XP installation if its a SATA/Raid setup etc.

As for CDRW and DVD, only thing you can do is try different ones.

Also, XP 64 might not be a bad idea - ive heard of a few people have problems running the 32bit version, yet the 64bit version seems to run ok *so far*. Just make sure you download the 64bit mobo drivers etc

I duno what make ram is Gettin 512mb tomoz shall try that and reinstall then?! Why wont it install using this processor mobo and only 256mb ram??

because, every program you have open uses your ram. so the more your using the more it struggles, win xp uses shit loads, you havent got on board gfx aswell have you?

No, got 32mb AGPx4 card, but he cant afford ne one yet, wants to wait til payday then get new one !

Did you try moving the hard drive onto primary and the cd/dvd onto secondary?

Have tried everything now, got XP working kinda not freezing installing the critical updates and then will install SP1 as SP2 wont install, then install motheroard cd with all shite, might work, if not out window goes windows

i'd avoid SP2 to be honest, just do 1.

install your motherboard drivers first, and then your graphics drivers.

Then install directx 9.

I just thought of something else....

Does that motherboard come with an onboard graphics card? If so then you need to make sure you disable it from within the bios otherwise it'll conflict and cause errors with the one you installed.

disable it all mate, you might be having IRQ conflicts which could be throwing up these errors.
