Use a 2nd reference point - some landmark or the other or at a stretch - the Sun or the moon. Walk along the road until they are positioned at a predetermined angle to the said point. They will meet.

no as in they decied whether they are going to walk south to the end of the road or north till the ned of the ropad before they jump so they both go the same way.
