GC8G4ED - thats model code for a MY00 and if its 2000 it should be STi6 not 5 like you said

Either that or hes not got a clue and got model year wrong, either that or hes up to something. Im sure SVA and DVLA will have systems in place to make sure that doesnt happen.....thats what confuses me. Im not too sure about the registration process. Maybe ask Gibbs on here what he thinks?

Dont forget they can be late registered. 2000 models came out in mid 1999. It can still be registered as a 2000 W, especially if its an import.

So does the plate here get allocated going by the year the car was 1st registered in Japan.....not year it was built maybe???

Like say the car gets built in 98, 1st jap owner registers it in 2000 then 04 its over here and reregistered same year it was 1st registered

So its maybe a genuine car....only hes ripped you by saying its a 00 model when it was actually a 98 registered 00. Much did you pay SetH? PM me if your not wanting to post up. You could maybe threaten him with small claims court and give him a bad rep on SN but apart from that I dont think theres much you can do.
