That doesnt look to have changed that much from the OPC Astra that was on here a bit ago. Would of thought that it wouldnt of turned out as good as the OPC one but they have done a good job and it looks smart

To compete with the Civic at 6.6? Being honest, no normal driver will ever even be able to replicate either figure, never mind it making any difference in use and not under test conditions.

Sub 7 in a front wheel drive car is an acheivement, sub 6 would be unsellable because of the compromises.
True true but it needs to really compete in terms of figures... a lot of people are gonna look at the figures in comparison to CTR's/LCR's etc and they dont add up... Astra more £££ more power yet slower than CTR etc...

The hot hatch market is so crammed nwo that figures are really important... most people won't test drive all the cars available so will have to go by something...

I don't really agree, Golf is slower but most of the reviews I've watched or read prefered it in the class.

The pictures in autoexpress are still not the final production ready pictures. Apparently it will have more aggressive front and rear bumpers, a single centre exhaust, larger rear spoiler and a few changes to the interior. However they may be optional extras as vauxhall are hoping to market the VXR brand as an aftermarket range as well.

19's are an option
Brembos badged as VXR brakes (red calipers as standard)

Dont think the figures are too important when compared to the CTR tbh, although in the same target market, the way they deliver the power is very different. Also as Ian said, if you ever tried to match the 0-60 figures in the Civic, you'd have a much harder time than in the astra, as they dont have Traction control, and its stupidly easy to get the front wheels bouncing off the floor .

Personally if it was my money i'd preffer the astra, simply because i preffer to have the power there when you plant it, not 3k rpm later .

I dont know why your all saying 6.1seconds isnt achievable. Most drivers probably wont be able to do it but i reckon an experienced driver will get somewhere near.

And enough with the CTR slating, its a good car and a very capable engine. I test drove one and it felt pretty fast, although all i had to compare to at the time was a 1.4 corsa and a golf 1.8T.

yeah, cos they'll make it slower than the mk4 gsi...aye right.

6.1 is easily achiveable seen as the mk4 does the 60 dash in 7seconds dead. and its 197bhp.

oh and the mk4 beats ctr's...so this will munch them.

Anyone wanna buy a Corsa C 1.8 SRi???

I will own one of them when it comes out.

Defently...

But i want the interior exactly like that, and i bet it wont happen....

Very few companies go with the interiors as flash as that.... It looks awsome
