invest in a halogen light with motion detector, wire it up so theres a buzzer in your room, when the light comes on so does the buzzer, thats when you pick up your baseball bat and get busy pikey bashing

heres an idea

how wide is the lane?
and what is it? tarmac gravel

if gravel this is best

get some long planks of wood and stick nails throu it so they poke throu about 2 inches hide it in the gravel so when they drive up

pop! no tyres then lift it out in the morning
when you come to leave
put it back at night
