my 1.4 rpaes zetec-s, there not special, the old mk 3 fiesta s with the N/A CVH in was a much better car

it takes over 30s to get to 100mph. it's slow

30 seconds is shit. A 106 GTi will do it in 21 seconds. As a comparison a CTR will do it in 15-16 so they 172 will be around the 17-18 second mark which is nearly twice as quick as the Ford

amazing torque??? what planet are you on?? the engines are absolutely terrible. good chassis though.

If you haven't driven one, then how would you know what torque it has? I've driven my brothers car loads of times and no matter what gear your in it will pull hard, it has loads of low down torque. My SRi has absolute shite torque.

I'm going to suggest he looked at the Ford website and seen how much torque the car had when it was being built as I doubt anyone can accuratly guess the torque output of an engine just by driving the car

My boyfriend has a zetec-s and it can't beat a saxo VTS obviously but it is rapid imo! him and his mate had their zs's rolling roaded, as standard, apart from replacement panel filters, one got: 108 bhp and 113 lb/ft and the other got: 112bhp and 112 lb/ft. whereas the VTS and the GTi have about 120-130 bhp as standard, not sure about the torque figures.

So they're not as quick as some hatches but they're pretty impressive.

I agree that the Zetec S are not rapid, I raced a VTR in my sport and kept up with it till 60 then it slowly pulled away. The Zetec is poorly built and my friend almost killed himself in one

Poor guy only had the car for 2 months when he was driving in a straight line and one of the tyres decided to pop and almost killed him

Said he would never buy a Ford again but he just went to buy the STI 170 Focus. He thinks it will keep up with my CTR

i drove a zetec S before rang its neck acutally..... erm yer granted wouldnt be be as fast as a vts at all but a 1.4 corsa... i reckon it would be a walk in the park.... were it comes into its own was the handling.... it was on rails.

i wasent overly impressed with the power though... i was expecting alot more from the way it looks and the way the owner kept sh*ting on about how fast it was.

thats bull. no way they are 112bhp. They are too slow, either that or they have the worst gearbox ratios in the world, and weigh as much as a hummer

They are shite slow, my GSi used to eat them alive and that was slow IMO.

I do like the look of them though, especially in silver with clear rear lights and fully colour coded and a nice exhaust, dropped to the deck.
