That car as standard ie without the engine upgrades, brakes etc would be in excess of £20k.

No. Stock Cooper S is 15k. Chilli Pack is about £1500, upgrade to full leather is about £800, kit is well over a grand fitted, Harmon Kardon stereo with the CD is about £800, sat nav is a grand. With the bits and bobs aswell i reckon over 20k from the showroom.
