Is it a percentage that the vaux speedos are out? If so, what's the figure?

So at 90mph, 100mph and 110mph, whats the actual speed gonna be (assuming the standard and correct wheel diameter)?

Always wondered this...

Yeah a mate of mine in his Escort on 14" said one time we were doing 95, when my speedo was reading around 80.

I just assumed that it was the shitty ford speedo that was worng.

I managed 117mph out of my 1.4 16v sport on 14" sport wheels. I'd say she's lying. Evisu was racing me at the time and i had no idea it was him

I was on that big road that shall remain nameless for legal reasons M6 Toll and just had my foot down - was holding steady 95, touched 112 on the clocks. Just wondered what the actual speed would have been? 100 or something?

Well its odd because Evisu was driving a saxo west/east coast and his speedo was reading the same as mine i believe.

Both my Corsa C and B read the same speeds on the clocks when travelling together, but can't really draw anything from that I guess with them both bein Vaux's

Come to think of it tho, our old Renault Scenic read the same as my B...

Ask her if she wants to swap for a GSi, I made a mistake buying a 1.6, her 1.0 is faster than it

Engine conversion Ian? 1.6 to 1.0? Not been done before, but I reckon you could manage

It's the lighter engine giving better power to weight that does it

You sure she wasnt reading the KMH part of the speedo

A few more things than that, power, rolling co-efficient and drag being the major factors in the equation

Isn't wind resistance technically "drag" anyway?

Fastest I got my cousins 1.0 to was 98mph and that was foot on floor on straightish, flat roads for about half an hour.
Had my 1.2 16v doing an indicated 115mph but now with 17s will only push 105mph

My 131bhp x16xe only reads about 105 at around 6k rpm, think its under reading considering my mate in his clio was pushing 130mph
