Um we have plenty of bandwidth and a dedicated server.

You'll only get 'too many connections' if someone if trying a Denial of Service attack. We currently allow 256 concurrent connections, which should be more than enough for quite a few hundred people to be online all the time (as you don't remain connected while you're reading a page)...

I'll have a look at optimising a few more bits, but it's more than likely because people are hammering refresh if a page takes more than a microsecond to load
