Where the built up nob bit is, he should make a plate with a hole in it, place over the top and weld around the nob then weld the plate to the frame.

He has also welded cast to mild, my moneys on them welds breaking away after a few bumps on the road.

You havent cleaned up the materials before welding and you've welded onto cast steel.. WTF??? Sorry mate but you can't weld for TOFFEE, in fact you would have been better off sticking it together with some melted TOFFEE!
