its the Utd fans who think they are still ontop of the world. Im not sure if its a blinkered view, or if they know but dont want to accept it. But if things dont go their way (out of cups early, dont win the league in next few years, cant attract big names) then they are going to be in SERIOUS trouble.

Leeds were the biggest team I can think of going bust down here, and they were in a very similar situation to Utd. They had loans secured against them based on the success of the team. They were in 1/4 finals of Champs League one year, then bust the next after not attracting enough cash into the business.

And look what happened to them...out the league, sold all their players, sold Elland Road.....

Ive said this in the past. They are making losses of 100mil+ a season at the moment with their spending and wages. And when he goes (as he will in the next 5yrs) they dont have anywhere near enough money coming in to pay the wages let alone keep on spending on new ones.

I found it funny when Kenyon said they would be breaking even by 2010....not a chance!

yeah, directly in size wise it is bus...

Leeds were worth around 150-200mil and were in 70mil in debt
Utd is worth 700mil and are 500mil in debt

So if you look at the %'s then they are comparable.

yes, but Manchester United is much larger than Leeds United was then... and there are other factors to take into account aswell... ticket sales, worldwide shirt sales... massive shirt sponsor coming in etc.... surely you can see this

You need to subtract £148m from that £500m

As Rich said, they're a global company and have soo much revenue coming in.

do you not read anything I write before you reply?

I already said YES Utd are bigger and worth more than Leeds (i.e. you have more money coming into the club) BUT if you work out how much debt you have compared to what your worth then you are in the same position.

Leeds were worth less but had less debt, you are worth alot more but have alot more debt. Its not rocket science.

Just read all of this thread. My overal thoughts, credit to Adriano saying Chelsea disregard good players and thats why he would not join them (hopefully other players will follow this). A very interesting topic raised was the money laundering from Abromivich, the guy is dodgey and this would not suprise me a bit. Also back on the chelsea topic, I cant wait until money bags gets bored. Then we will see what happened to Leeds happen to Chelsea, plus there will be a dramatic loss of Chelsea supporters

You mean 56million. And you only need to take into account how much extra that is per season over the vodafone deal as that was already taken into account in previous season where you still made poor profits compared to what you've got to pay off.

Gearing ratio's suck I do see your point though from a business point of view, but in reality I just cant see Man Utd falling to the depths of Leeds. Call it whatever, denial or just hope... I prefer to think of it as reality. If im proved wrong, Im proved wrong.
