You can see it brake a bit, then go 'och no needs more' and mash it.

See they used softer stuff this time round - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNi17YLnZpg

Pretty impressive.

However...

There's no need for this if you drive to the conditions.
And the tires make no difference.
And the Mayans were in touch with aliens.

that's all well and good, but it still doesn't stop the wanker behind smashing into the lorry (for now, anyway).

In the real world with a fully loaded lorry it may not be as effective. The lorry would stop but then the load would push you on again especially with bulk liquids.

Very impressive, but the immigrants in the back would be thrown about a bit.

Prefer the Volvo system but as said daft if it comes to a complete stop if not necessary if the car ahead is moving

that wont work on the roads though lorry drivers live up each others arse so it will constantly be kicking in .

volvo one seems to stop better than the merc one though.

tried this in a few new zafira's with adaptive cruise control and collision system, i got super lazy in a automatic one, all you had to do was steer it slowed down for everything and speed up when it could really amazing stuff.

The adaptive cruise control, as per fitted to the Merc I drove, is a great system, right up until the car in front turns off on a roundabout, it then lauches itself back up to speed, usually slighty sideways and leaving the driver with brown pants.

Imagine not wearing your seatbelt and not been prepared for it anchoring on. Be face planting the windscreen!

why would you use cruise control on a road with roundabouts?
