 | As some of you know, me and former member Adi_Sri have been racing our integra dc2 in the msv trophy series this year. Since our initial success of a win at Cadwell Park, we've been struggling to get the results since.

With a fresh set of tyres / brakes we headed to Donington to try to turn that around.

With a fairly good qualifying we were near the front of the grid for the start of the race, but we had to fight hard throughout the race to end up finishing 3rd in class! We kept getting beaten quite badly under braking.
Not bad considering we hadn't driven the track before and only had 10 mins practice each before the start of the race

Was overall a top day anyway,

Here's the vid for anyone interested. Me driving first half, Adrian driving second half.

I make a good start, then let through a few class A / B cars ... but then get beaten under brakes by class C cars and have to play catch up to get them back and work our way back up the field.

 | Looks like brilliant fun, no pics of the DC2 though? I'd love to get into something like this when I have enough disposable cash.

 Fair play!

EDIT: And congrats on 3rd in class.

 | So you need some better brakes then?

 Well done tho.
How did you find Donnington? I love the track. Done 3 track days there and it is possible my favourite track. Its just the way it tends to flow and with craner curves into the old hairpin, probably my favourite combo or corners on any track in the country.

Classes are worked out from power / weight. But generally the budget gets higher the higher the class too.

 For more info:
 http://www.trackdaytrophy.co.uk/
 or
http://www.team-trophy.co.uk/ (for people who aren't novices)

It originally started out as a series for people to race their track day cars, but these days they're all solely race cars which turn up on trailers, support vehicles and some guys even have teams of mechanics.

I had been doing track days for years and just wanted to go racing, so did it! Definitely don't regret it - it has been great fun. The biggest hurdle I've had is going from track day mentality (being curtious and letting people past) to race mentality where you can't leave a gap.

 | get that seating position sorted out, i know you would be so much better if you actually felt in control of the car.

 | I was looking through the teams on the site, the majority of the bhp figures seem really low (unless its at the wheels?)

 Yeah at the wheels.

It's class power at the wheels per tonne.

 Our car made 188 bhp @ fly, 156 @ wheels and weighs 1045kg - so 149 bhp / tonne. Hence Class C.

AK, not a chance with 350 bhp and 1250kg... would even be over class A!
That said, I think some people are lying about their figures. The red porsche that won in our class admitted to having 220 bhp at the fly when I chatting to them. Equally the class A bmw someone said he admitted to having 365 bhp or something.

 | Good track isnt it? I only live a junction up the motorway so visit alot (only driven a hand full of times though). I drove my corsa that hard i ended up having new pads, disks, drums and 2 x cylinders at the back

 | The track is brilliant. I really enjoyed it - it's really flowing. Rob B gave me a couple of tips which helped too, the line through old hairpin was great and caught me up with cars ahead.

Rob R: Our brakes are completely standard 96 spec brakes, with Ferodo DS2500 pads. As such, we warped our last set of discs and dont really have the stopping power of the other teams who have brembo's etc.
