 | Have you found doing this beneficial ?

I have a Seat Ibiza Cupra that has sat at my yard now for 6 months and hasnt moved. Id say on face value its worth around 2.5k, but out of interest i totted up prices for all the breakable parts that I have (its modified) and its more than 2.5k.

Not sure if its worth the hassle ?

 | All depends if you have time and space, as parts could be sitting there for years!

 | If the car is worth similar kind of money as a whole and you dont have a use for some of the parts, sell it as a whole.

I'd only break a car if its not worth sorting it or as per usual in my past, the engine or other bits have been use to me.

ie my VTS is currently doing was going to sell for £1500

So far I have £1600 and still have all the body pannels and engine to sell
  so am aiming for £2000

Although I have only done this as a crashed them both on track

 | You're doing well to return more than a grand. At most I would hope for £500 worth of bits on a typical stripper.

Curious as to where the rest comes from.

 | So glad i did it with my old B rather than sell it for 2.5k, we keep a tally of things that we sell from it and we are near the 4k marker with still odd bits to sell. I was amazed at how most of it sold by word of mouth and even how quickly standard bits got snapped up... Tryed to get her to let me split the VXR rather than sell it but she wasnt keen on the mess and storage of bits again

 | I broke my red Ibiza (Mk4), Im on about 3k so far, and thats without an engine. Just been listing more bits on eBay now. Be prepared for lots of eBay listing, people asking stupid questions, getting stupid offers, etc. Is there a person in during the day for courior collections?

 | considered doing it to the corrado as some parts get silly money and alot of the parts on it now have less then 30,000miles

scrap what you don't sell, seems quite a lot of money in scrapping a car now

 | Depends entirely on the car, my mate does it for extra cash as he has a garage and some land. He is doing a track ready E36 328 at the moment and will make back the cost of the car without going near the engine, a 2.8 with cams, headwork and throttle bodies.

I stripped my old Corsa after it was written off and got considerably more than the £1500 it was worth pre-crash.

 | Worth it if it's a desireable car that people want bits for. I did it on a MK6 Fiesta and I returned my money but I still have half of it sitting in a garage over a year later and it's getting quite annoying now tbh

 | If its a higher range model, parts are more desirable so broader market. For example, the guy that bought my seats has a basic model with no height adjustment

 | Must be my problem, I lash stuff if I don't think it's worth much

Burnt some Puma seats with electric adjustment just because they were in the way and fairly heavy. Scrap scrap.

 | Found it very beneficial indeed. Got a GSi that wasn't even worth a wank, got rid of the bodykit, interior, exhaust, manifold, wheels, coilovers, induction kit(s), spoiler.. for about £1500.

Get them to give you their company details, then just put a note with the V5, saying stripped for parts then shell taken away by xxxxx
