Anyone had any useage of Halfords tools?
I know the 'Gearwrench' ratchets are meant to be good, and ive used a small socket set before and got on well with it, so based on this i have just purchased this.... http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_173083
Seems a good deal to me!
Comes with loads of bits and bobs.

Yeah they do, but the ratchets only have 12 months. Still think its a good deal IMO.

Brilliant bit of kit imo.
I've had the older version of that set for about 6 years now, not had a single breakage and it's took it's fair share of abuse. Only problem I've had is losing bits but that's just me

i've had that kit for 18months...gets hammered, and its never let me down! keep it dry and spray WD on the ratchet mechs once a week, and it'll last forever.
I use them everyday (store's kit not mine) on battery fits etc and on bikes in store too, again no worries if looked after!

had that kit for about 4 years myself and cant fault it. Apart from the flimsy hinges that lock in place .
but the quality of all the tools are right up there with some of the really really expensive stuff, and comes with a lifetime guarentee so cant go wrong.
If your even thinking of buying it, just go and get it, you wont be dissapointed, especially at that price (bought mine when it was on offer for £99 too)
the ratchet spanners really come in handy too
Has anyone actually worn their ratchet mechanisms out yet? mines still fine 4 years on, even if it goes there only about a fiver anyway
One big problem ive found with the lifetime guarentee come to think of it is, the tools will last a lifetime no worries, the shitty paper receipt however didnt even last 5 minutes, so how do i go about getting any replacments if i ever come to need them without the reciept?

If so, PM me.

I have taken a ratchet back and a socket and they exchanged them without a receipt etc.
(I broke the ratchet jumping up and down on it trying to undo a wheel nut done up with a nut gun)

FFS Just keep the receipt, it's not huge and why take the risk?

for proper procedure you need recipt.
for proof of purchase.
and for harrisp's reasoning.....
also... if they are seen as abused they can refuse to swap it.
but as stated. ive had my own kit for 10 years now. and its still good.

I've got three of those sets..
Brilliant little sets!
Never needed the receipt to swap stuff out but they say you should hang on to it.

i use alot of halfords pro stuff day in day out, and have for the last 7 years - only thing i seem to break are torx sockets and allen sockets (usually with an air gun!! lol ) Its pretty decent quality stuff to be fair and definately worth the money.
