make sure the belts have been done, preferably a recent clutch and a good service history

TBH I think they are pretty cool cars, and you get a lot for the cash.
I am interested in what people say.

brilliant cars, one took the totb fwd title last year or the year before.

0-60 in under 6 seconds and top speed of 0ver 150mph from the factory.

Gorgeous interior and an immense exhaust note. engines are pretty damn tough too and there are plenty of high mileage examples (150,000+!!) around to prove this.

Id have one if it wasnt for insurance.

0-60 in under 6 secs for a FWD 216bhp car? seems a bit optimistic.
68% front weight distribution I just seen

insurance aint too bad to be honest.

I know about the timing belt problems... normally engine out job.

I wouldnt buy one without proof of it being done.

Loads on ebay pistonheads.... tempted to see if someone wanted to do a deal against my astra.

I think they're ugly but great engines, lovely noise and they're pretty quick.
I'd rather take the engine and put it in a Punto though

Review by someone....

I cant believe what im reading its an awfull looking car looks like someone designed it with a butter knife never seen anything so ugly with the exception of other fiats, as in the ladies earlier comments i too owned a rover coupe turbo its cheaper better looking 0-60 in 6 seconds 152mph flat out and i did it on the m11 so i know it can, i raced a fiat coupe and whooped it so stop banging on about it like its a ferrari its c**p and remember the rover turbo is a 4 cylinder engine and its still faster so how good is the fiat really with 4 more valves and an extre cylinder its still not that quick get real people!!!

I had the pleasure of driving a 220 turbo a few years ago, was very quick. The handling was worse than my standard micra, imo. So I never felt I could use the speed.
