Are the older ones of these any good?

I slightly remember test driving one of these back in the day and the only things i can remember is that it sounded nice...it was huge to drive..the steering was like somthing off a boat and the throw on the gearshift was like

Anyone got any input?

Smooth Drive, comfortable, recaro trim, imo look nice, sound nice, cheap to buy. but lots of them have high miles, and can be rather unreliable.

Love GSi's. If only it had a shorter ratio gearbox they'd actually be a quick motor.

Could you fit one of those 'Quickshift' things to it to make it feel less throwy??

I did remember Nic had one hopefully he will be along soon to let me know more.As for the mileage as i remember the one i drove had 90K on it way back then! I suppose if it's had a cambelt and FSH then it should be fine?

My bro has a Silver Phase1 hatch.Standard apart from a Bilstein suspension kit and it looks really good, goes no too bad and sounds nice with a cone filter. He says the MPG isnt very high due to the addiction of hearing the V6 roar.
Handling is alot better with the suspension kit and the gear ratios arent too bad with it being a big car.

He sold his UK Scooby for it and has no regrets either.Loves the Vectra.

i like mine. i use it to tow the corsa with. its comfy, easy to drive, fairly lazy. theyre not ground breaking performance wise but i can sit up the back end of my mates 106 gti until about 85 then pull past it no bothers. for a big car they handle ok standard. i have no mods done to mine apart from a k plus n air filter and on a 10 year old 99k engine it was 3bhp down from standard.

they do have a flat spot between about 3k and 4k revs but this was to do with emissions and its programmed like so ive found out.

mpg wise, i get about 26 towing the corsa on a 340 mile round trip. get about 29-30 work and back and on a good run out down liverpool and back i was getting 37 average.

as i wasnt after a performance nutter bastard car, i wanted a decent sized car that was easy to drive. its spot on. its probably my favourite car ive ever owned. mine is a facelift gsi on a v plate. for me its ideal.

But was it really 3bhp down or did the rolling road phantom make it seem so....

Kidding on, just that I've seen you saying about RR results before and thought I'd maybe get you to bite a wee bit

On topic, a guy round the corner had one of the facelift I think with a full exhaust. It sounded absloutely brilliant when he was booting it.

My bro just ordered a 3.8bar FPR,Oil,plugs and an oil filter for his Vec Gsi and it all came to £53 from Vaux with no discount etc.So it would seem they are still around £21.
