Please circulate in order that the risk of obtaining a fine and points is minimised

*Be warned and be careful !*

*M1, M25 and the M11 will be equipped with Point to Point speed devices from August 1st 2009*

Once you enter the M11 for instance ,you pass a camera that takes a photo of your car and registration number and records the exact time, upon exit another camera takes a photo of your car and registration number, and records the exact time you leave the motorway.

The Cameras are set at a fixed points. With both the start time and finish time, a computer is able calculate the time it has taken for you to travel between the two fixed points, and works out your average speed and how many miles you may have travelled over the national speed limit and If you have completed the clocked journey too fast you are given a speedi ng ticket.

At the present time the national speed limit for motorways is 70 M.P.H. For every minute that you drive over the speed limit you will incur a fine of £30, and one point on your licence . The fines will be issued automatically but the MOT will be allowing a variance of 10% for 3 months, which gives a top speed of 77mph untill the end of October 2009

The MOT will at a later date add cameras at all exit points along the motorways. Remember that now with the new legislation, fighting speed camera fines is almost impossible. You must prove the device is faulty and if you are not a technician working on them, you have no chance of beating the fine.

Bullshit, like someone has already pointed out just stop at a service station, you could travel down a motorway at 150mph for an hour of a 2 hour journey then get caught in a 3 hour traffic jam, exactly how then are you to be convicted of speeding?

Totally ridiculous.

i dont see why it bothers people. shouldnt be breaking the speedlimit anyway so if you get caught its your own fault.

They'll be there because they'll no doubt be about to start roadworks.

I understand what you're saying - I don't go speeding around everywhere all the time, but it's just another addition to big brother britain. The only time I can see fit for cameras to be used is in roadworks. They seem to want to watch our every move and make us pay every time we set a foot slightly wrong. If I could afford to pack up and leave britain I would, because it's becoming a joke.

aye but if they didnt rape the motorist on fines all the time they wouldnt be able to afford all these massive drug ring busts and anti terrorists squads that arrest people all the time. the police force in america is funded in a completely different way to ours. im all in favour of catching idiots doing 90-100mph on a motorway if its going to get more drugs and terrorists off our streets.

I agree, but what with our government and it's mp scandal and the debts they have built up it makes you feel sick at all the money they seem to fritter away like there is a never ending pot of cash.

You do know that the road safety partnership is run completely separately to the regular police force and the 2 have different ways of funding.

Nic, 90-100mph is nothing at half 3 in the morning on an empty motorway though.

Correct, but this sort of thing means that we've lost the last little bit of common sense judgement that we had as drivers. Surely it's only a matter of time before every single road's patrolled by stuff like this.

Speed = distance / time
They have the time, and they know the distance, what proof do they need except that?

2 cars, same colour, use the same reg.
one car goes past the first camera, second car goes past the second camera 1 minute after.

Speeding ticking for 600mph.

Worlds fastest corsa is born.
sell on Ebay with 600mph ticket as proof.

Bored.
