Another last minute booking (Saturday PM for Sunday AM start lol) from the client who owns the 612 I did the other day. Only after shots of both cars as I started at 10 and finished at 6.30 working flat out lol.
911:
Correction to certain areas and enhancement to the whole car. Treated to a very similar procedure as the 612 tbh. Correction carried out via Menz Power Gloss as the paint was oddly soft. Again, in very good condition to start with as it was fully wetsanded by another big name when the client first got the car a few months ago. I was there to remove the marks the client and other detailers inflicted during maintenance washes. LSP CG Jetseal 109 topped with Dodo Red Mist.

Then a simple wash and top up coat of wax (well sealant - Dodo Red Mist again) and interior tidy up (no pics):

It always amazes me how these companys stay a float, but well done and good work.
Wish i could afford to splash out on a mop, getting really pink now, and i hate the amount of chalk in SRP.

very nice rich. do you get to drive these at all or do you do your thing where they are and not move them at all?
with regards to the cayenne, why do people pay other people to wash their cars? i don't get it. it's not the hardest thing in the world
i understand the whole correction side of it as it's not easy and is very time consuming, but a quick wash is hardly going to take that long.

What companies stay a float mate? The SRP chalks because of the fillers it contains! Although if it's a lot, you're probably using too much.
Alternatively, try the "Luxury Wax Polish" I have listed on eBay (see my sig) - cheaper and better imo. Then top with a UV resistant sealant to help keep the UV rays at bay. Britemax #5 is ace for this.

Danny - Cheers mate. Yeh he's not too bad off lol. Wish he'd move house so that it's an easier place to work at! I was bugging the neighbours again which I don't like doing!
Ben - No I never drive them. I'm only insured to drive them on private land atm (changing insurances next year) so yeh it'd be fine to move them in this case, but tbh there's no need and therefore a lot less risk of ruining my expensive premiums! And it has supposedly been paint corrected but I'm not so sure - it gets protection details quite regularly but is a workhorse so gets abused. And tbh, this guys has money so why clean it himself when he can get somebody else to do it lol. I call it a quick wash, but I still spent 2 hours on it!

No I know what you mean, but without those people I wouldn't have a business! 90% of my custom is regular customers who are signed up on maintenance plans (fortnightly, monthly or quarterly) at various levels lol.
Re time spent. Least time I ever spend on a car even a really clean one is usually an hour, average I suppose is 2-3 hours, details 1-2 days lol.

Why does it amaze you that detailing companies stay a float? Surely it's the same as any company, if you provide a good service, you will succeed?
I personally also do a lot of valeting - more so than detailing tbh which is my "bread and butter" money... I work between 5 and 7 days a week atm so must be doing something right

I didnt mean it personally, you must obviously be doing something right, but i dont think a dragon would invest in a detailing company if you get my drift.

Yeh I get what you mean. But then a dragon wouldn't invest in a builders, plumber, hand car wash, bodyshop etc etc etc. It may not be lucrative but it beats being employed by a company imo lol.

Totally agree with you rich, id love to be my own boss and as iv said well done, but i would put builders etc in a different catagorie as they are essential things, having a shiny car isnt.

Why would the car have needed to have been sanded? Isn't that a bit like cracking a walnut with a sledgehammer?

The front end of the car has previously seen paintwork which was very orange peely, there were also numerous scratches that machining alone wouldn't remove. The owners very fussy (as you may have guessed!) so wanted it as close to perfect as possible. I'm not a fan of full on wet sanding as it leaves the clearcoat permanently thinner by quite a considerable amount (around 10 microns whereas correction by machine is usually no more then 2-4microns) giving less scope for future correction.

If you saw the accounts of some detailing companies i'm sure you'd be very surprised.

Do top detailers, who work for someone, get paid a lot or would that just be the case if they owned the company?

Really depends on what you'd class as a lot.

Well I don't know, give me an example?
Going off what you say your brothers company charges for full details I'm wondering if they see much of that as it looks to be hard work and pretty long hours.

Skinflint didn't pay the extra £200 for the coloured wheel caps on his 911 by the looks of it
