Just looked up when my MOT was due on the Zetec S as was thinking it must be due, and it was June 18th 2009....can't believe I haven't been flagged up on it? I've been pulled over and had the car checked over legally by Police and never been told. Also why don't they issue reminders for this like with Tax?

Off to the MOT station it is then!

I know I can't believe I've gone this long without being pulled up on it. I genuinely had no idea! No wonder so many cars drive around illegally...

And yeah I've been pulled doing silly things so they did what I thought was a toothcomb check on the car, but it clearly didn't raise this issue...

After I got the Golf I mistakenly thought it was first registered September 2006 rather than May 2006 (the actual registration date). I was only when I happened to be in the dealers collecting some bits that I got them to check. Was only 3 months past the due date. Got them to do it next day for me, but like you surprised I hadn't been pulled/sent a notification for it.

There was a guy on the news not long back who has made like a badge style sticker that illuminates red when your mot is due

Pfft, stickers are tacky. Having the tax in the window annoys me tbf. Only made better by the fact it contains an offensive message.

I avoided taking it Southend/Lakeside tonight as thats a place I'm most likely to get pulled up at!

Car manufacturers should make something on the display in cars, like when they tell you its due a service, should tell you when an MOT is due, and MOT garages have something to plug in and change the date when a new MOT is done.
