Would i be putting my fuel bill up unnecessarily if i put an air filter on my 1.4 SRI? I want to give it a more beefy sound, cos atm when im sat at traffic lights or start the engine up, you cant even hear that its even on!

Or would i be better getting a new back box? But then how much am i looking at with that and what exactly would need replacing?

HELP?

de restrict your airbox and stick a K&N pannel filter in and look at getting a back box as well

Depends which system you went for. Some cars can be worse with K&N's on, that's why alot of people just replace the standard panel filter. If you want to replace the standard airbox though I'd spend a bit more money and avoid K&N.

de restrict air box and fit a panel filter this will give you the same (performanceish) increase that a cone filter does and more or less the same noise

also if its a 16v im almost 100% sure that you dont need to get a aftermarket center section as the cener section is a free flowing one anyway, its the back box thats a restrictor on these.

yeah it is 16v... but all this panel filter is going over my head, its not something im exactly gonna go outside and get my hands dirty doing anyway cos if i start i think the car would end up as a pile of bits! haha, so im sure my brother would know if i explain to him...

A panel filter is just a direct replacement filter that goes in the standard air box. I rate k&n panel air filters over the pipercross one I have in the C - going to bin that, giving me flat spots
