Aye, but the powerplant underneath the paint is superb.
Good engines, good enough for 160mph old bill take-away runs. Under-estimated cars.
tbh, i'd be a bit cautious about taking one on in the VXR In case the dogs in the boot start licking the rear window as it pulls past you

Lovely big barges, a mate of a mate had one that was deadly in a straight line. Bit of a difference when it comes to corners though you might get bored of it in that sense.

T5R was, for touring car homolation... then it was banned because the combination of 4wd, 300bhp, 800kg and a long flat roof that created immense amounts of downforce meant that the volvo's were going round the outside of just about every other car on the grid. So im told anyway, ive looked online for info to back it up but cant find any!

Several Volvos did, and still do, come in AWD variants.
The 850 had the AWD option with 2.4 litre engines. The T5 & R variants didn't get the AWD option until the V70R IIRC.
Most Volvo models since have had the option, AFAIK. You can even get diesel AWD Volvos these days.
edit: Being Volvo, they only initially developed AWD for people who tow caravans, or drive up mountains for skiing holidays, which is why the 850 AWD missed out the performance variants.
