can they drive, Im sure Ive just seen one in a new Zafira, even my passenger seen it and said she doesnt think they are allowed, I certainly thought they wernt allowed to drive?

they all look the same, My passenger is an optician and is doing a specialist course on treating them and said yes that person 90% has DS, or she might not have and just looked like it

I personally wouldn't allow them to drive, for their own safety aswell as others, Downs Syndrome is a pretty vollatile condition tbh and the mental aspect of it is unstable.
To put it into perspective, if I had really bad eyesight to the point where I was a danger to the public and myself, I would be disqualified wouldn't I?
On the flipside, if your a wheelchair user but can still drive by an aid of some sort, there's no problem with that so I can't give you a definate answer there Matt.

you would be amazed some of the conditions people are allowed to drive with .. and yet eat a sausage roll while driving and get a fine.

not sure if they can or can't tbh.
i've seen a woman with legs about 6 inches long (no joke) and really long arms drive a car.
i used to serve her when i worked in a supermarket years ago, was so funny when she paid for the shopping, putting her long arms over the counter, couldn't see anything else

Im looking on google now but cant find a great deal,
didnt know anything about the condition J and the bird who was passenger was getting out when we saw it so she didnt have a chance to tell me about it

It probably would depend on how bad the condition is. My mum is a special needs teacher and has taught downsyndrome children for years, some arent too bad but some are really violent, no concentration, bad mood swings etc. I see a few working normal jobs, going to college so some must be able to.

I used to speak to a downs fella, he was a real nice chap and was more pleasant than perfectly able scum you see in deprived areas, but if anyone abused him he used to bearhug them to death.

A man and his son (who has downsyndrome) go past my work every day on a tandem bike. The lad is at school down the road, seen him out and about and he acts normal.

Exactly, riding through rainford on a bike with my dad. OK. Would either get pushed off the bike before I got anywhere near the school or the bike would have been stolen before we even got on it.
