It's an 11 year old escort, and it says 'engine has done 60k' which means the car has probably done about 150k miles, of course it's overpriced.

He's put down that the engine has done 60k, meaning it's either been swapped or rebuilt but neglected the overall mileage of the car, meaning it's mega miles, or he'd have put it down.

i agree with john , i noticed it only said "engine done 60k", meaning the car is probably fairly higher.
my mate has had a couple of these. usual things to look for, rust on sills, arches etc...
i looked at one a couple of weeks back on R-plate, the sills were shot to pieces!
also, my mate had to change the rear beam bushes on all his escorts, feels like it almost floating going round corners. you can easily tell by driving it.

There good reliable cars if they have been looked after serviced ect, there not as quick as people think also.

have alook at the archs for rust, around the filler cap ect. do an RAC check you will get the proper mileage check then along with everything else!

I'd leave it, it's over priced. you could get a standard-ish one for 1k or less and then get some nice wheels and suspension and it owe you less than 2k. Or look at RS2000's.

that aint overpriced its just there are a lot of underpriced dogs out there theese are nice cars with reasnable power, common faults on em really is faulty elec's, check for a whiney box now they are a strong box but are known for crunching in 2nd to 3rd, bushes and balljoints are also a problem on this car as they wear out realy easy other than that if you like the car go for it m8 i know id buy another anyday of the week
