Guy local to me had one, a fire started in the engine bay and it burnt out
Not sure if it was a williams though, might of been a normal 16v. Few years ago now.

tend to blow head askets which are a cont to do on these.. trust me a mate asked me to do one of these for him and i charged him £500 garages wanted 7-900 for the same job..
wiring falls apart, connecters crumble and fall off after a few years, generaly just a quick engine in a shit car tbh.. but its up to you in the end

I really like them, don't tend to like french cars much. I'd have one though.

the look ok for a clio, but are massively over-rated and over priced. Anoraks talk about them like they are road legal f1 cars but its just a 150bhp clio, note special enough to commend the high price tags of them

They handle as well as any other FWD car with torsion beam rear suspension of the era, so 205 gti, fiesta xr2i etc. 150bhp isnt much tho really is it, and they arent fast for the power they are supposed to make. XE corsa is faster yet supposed to be the same power?
They do have awful driving positions too, i had one for a weekend and didnt get on with it at all. Much prefer a 5 turbo.

my brother had one, was a fantastic car, he never had a problem with it, he owned it over a year, was fast, for a fwd rear torsion beam car handled fantastic even when its on 3 wheels, they sound great, the interior is nice, my brother lowered his 50mm 10mm rear spacers and decat and backbox, was a great hot hatch.
They handle well due to the wider track on the front

erm how
Never heard of them setting on fire, thats a new one.
Also head gaskets are fine on them, Im on my second engine but it definately didnt go due to the head gasket. The first engine has covered 130k and kept pulling right until the end when the cambelt skipped a tooth and buggered the valves.
As for performance, due to being a bigger engine they tend to have a better top end that the 106/saxos.
I can honestly say that the only problem ive had with leccy is the fuel guage but that seems to the actual dial and not the responder.
Also plastics front arches, so only the rears you need to watch out for but once you get them done you wont have any problems again.
Heres mine, currently not being used.
