Current car...

Still love the R27 but its got nearly 20k miles on the clock.... I havnt spent a penny on it in 2 years apart from one service... but coming up I have a service when I will probably need 4 new brembo four pot discs and pads, four new tyres and the service charge..... all that isnt going to leave much change out of a couple of grand.

I paid 15k for the R27 new(got a great deal) and the delearship will take it off my hand for 10.5k in exchange for a new clio cup 200. Seems like a decent trade in price to me... privately they are going for about a grand more but I really cant be bothered with the hassle.....epecially when whoever I sell it too is going to be trying to knock the price down becasue of impending repairs that need doing... brakes, tryes ect.

So I can get a new clio cup for 17k with everything.... cup pack, black speedlines, recaros, climate control as standard now, carbon interior pack, gt spoiler the lot...... can probably muster another 2k deposit so im looking at about 4k on 0% finance for the next three years..... which is well doable.

Have no complaints with the R27....its been an awesome car and everything I expected and more...... the clio cup feels from the test drive I had to be the same car with more low down grunt due to a new gearbox and more advanced suspension.... steering feels a bit heavier at low speeds which I prefer to the lightness of the r27.

Thinking of going white with black speedlines and trim............ few pics below of the sort of spec im thinking of.

What you all reckon?

Love the cup other than the black section on the front bumper.

Anyone want to suggest another vehicle for the 15-20k mark then im open to suggestions.

Although I have test driven and ruled out

Corsa gsi
Civic type r
All Fords..... hate their dealerships
Seat
Skoda Fabia and octavia

Got to be honest though and say imo for under 20k nothing touches these ranaults for an everyday drive........ the corsa is nice to drive as well but I just can not get on with its looks

Doesnt have to be... although I have no real need for a car that is much bigger than the clio... would like a bigger car sometimes but generally prefer the benefits of a small car.

I do very little motorway driving but a hell of a lot of a and b road dricing, inner city driving. Handling is much more important to me than straightline speed

Both of those are lovely cars. I'd be happy with either. Sounds like a good plan tho to me.

Thanks --- you may have just made up my mind.

Weird thing is I posted this same thread up on cliosport and got a much more negative reaction to the car. Think alot of the older members have a problem with the new clio.......ok it might not be as raw.... but to many people like myself that is a good thing on a daily drive. The build quality on these new clios is in a different class to the older clios

If I bought a cooper s I would want to change wheels, tyres, brakes and seats before I drove it.... they are not up to scratch for what they charge for the car...... other than that I liked my cooper s...although it did cost me lots of money over the three years

You had the old one didn't you? Have you driven the new one?

That'd be my choice, they are a bit pricey by the time you have put a few essential options on

Yeah had a go in the new cooper s... main thing I liked abot the old s was the supercharger....dont like the new turbo engine at all. The whole mini just doesnt feel hard enough to me..... they have compromised on too many things and its just too expensive for what it is. Dont get me wrong I would happily have one if someone gave me one for free... but im not paying that much for one

My local mini dealership is full of c unts as well- both in sales and in servicing...dont want anything to do with them again

You will have to wait a few months as its not out yet but the new Seat Ibiza Cupra, can get them for about 16k I believe, 180bhp 1.4 Twin charged, DSG, electronic diff, should be a right contender for the clio 200
