To cut a long story short, Mrs Jambo fancies a clio at a local Renault dealership. Its the new shape on an 07 plate.
Problem is allthough its a very nice car, it seems to not have air conditioning. This came as a shock to me as im used to dealing with vx's which on Corsa's im pretty sure came std on most Cs?
i dont like the idea of her paying £7k for a car that doesnt have aircon in 2009?! (speaking modern)
am i mad in thinking this?!
Thoughts/opinions?

Most corsa's don't have aircon.
You get the odd stick out one that does, like a 1.0 active I think, most of the lower spec models don't though.
My Gf's base spec corsa doesn't.

I would have melted the past couple weeks without AC & thats away up here.
Surely theres another car, £7k can get you plenty choice so I wouldnt go for something without such a basic thing as ac.

she seems unfussed by it, but i couldnt even contemplate buying one without.
Its much better in the winter at clearing windscreens also.
So alot of small cars dont have it then?
She is in a rush to get one and ive been trying to get through to her that she needs to understand the importance of buyying the right car and not just the one she likes the look of.

After I posted that my gf phoned complaining she couldn't get her window cleared, told her she should have bought the one with aircon
She wasn't bothered about it either though.

Two issues, whether she'll use it and whether it'll affect the value of the car in future.
I only use it sparingly. I would far prefer to have a window open. Mine only comes on if I'm too hot after trying everything else.
I would be more concerned at paying £7k for a Clio.

Girls who know nothing about cars are like that.
GF got a base spec corsa for 8k, you can buy a lot of car for 8k.
She would rather have 0 miles on the clock though.

Suppose everyone does it once. I've done it a few times, which is why I know it's stupid.

I'd buy a car without AC, we get a fortnight of decent weather here and that's when I like to have my window down.

I have had my windows down in nearly all the hot weather this year instead of the aircon.
Saying that, the only car i'd buy without it would be a vx220

james, wait until you find one with aircon.
i was driving my fiat doblo today and the heat was unbearable.
my t-shirt was soaked and my face was dripping.
if i ever got another z-s i'd make sure it had AC.
i can't live without my climate control now! global warming sucks balls

Yeha I wouldn't.
It's a brilliant feature in the summer and the winter and keep the value of the car high. I'd walk straight away if I was looking at a car that 99% of the others had air con.
This bollocks about it drinking fuel as well lol - I notice prehaps 20 miles per tank if its on all the time?

Don't see the big deal. Had A/C in all my cars and never turn it on. Windscreen is always cleared easily enough without it, although not as quick I will admit.

I don't have it so have to make do with windows down and fans turned all the way to cold. Still blasts warm air at you, but not as warm as having the windows closed
Numberwang!

My last two cars have had it and I'm sort of in the middle. The Golf uses the air-con when it likes to heat/cool the car like a cheap version of climate control which is excellent as you never have to turn it on and off and the temperature is always right. In the Corsa you had to push a button to turn it on/off and I found I hardly used it.
So, climate control would definately have again, switched air con, probably not bothered.
